Between us by AKM Miles

Synopsis: On vacation Jason meets Matt, a photographer, who has been going through a difficult phase for the last couple of years. His partner at the time suddenly died and he’s only recovering slowly. Jason seems to be just the right guy to get him out of his depressed state.

Review: The only characters in this story that matter are Matt and Jason (and the dead partner of Matt who is present as a spectre for most of the book). There is no other plot, no external complications, nobody interferes in any way in that short story. Jason meets Matt, finds out about his depressive state, they fall in love, Matt starts to get out of his funk and they start to build their life as a couple. Period.

Jason must be an angel in disguise, he was so good and understanding; Matt was angst-y, but not too much so. I really liked how the story was told, nice, tender, gentle, nothing kinky involved. If you, like me, like that sort of story with no side plots and only internal reflections, this might be right for you.

I’m glad you liked it. It was an easy write. I liked the pair and how it was so easy between them. I plan on following it up as they return home. I appreciate the review.

AKM, thanks for stopping by. I don’t know why I didn’t mention this in my review, because after I finished reading I was definitely thinking that I’d like to read a sequel to see how Jason and Matt do once real life has started. I’m already looking forward to it.
