Up for crafting some bookmarks?
I know, I know, I don’t even use bookmarks that much, but I like to have them. DROPS which is a great website with lots of free patterns for crochet and knitting – they also produce great yearn – have a few nice patterns up for making your own bookmarks.
So get out your crochet hook or knitting needles and create some handmade bookmarks for yourself or a fellow book lover!

Wow! I was skeptical when I read this, but those bookmarks are VERY cute. I will have to make some and give them away on my blog! I love bookmarks!
I admit crocheting bookmarks sounds terribly boring, but I like the animla ones, esp. for kids they would be awesome. I don’t think I have the patience to do the bear or bunny one though. Too small and too many little components to put together.
You have to show us if you do any.
How very cool! I don’t use bookmarks much either since I’m trying to go all ebooks now, but I admire people who can put something like this together. The one time I tried to make a bookmark, I put some dried, pressed flowers into a plastic strip and ran it through a lamination machine. It worked okay as a bookmark and looked good as well.

Oh, this sounds like what I would do, too. I love laminating, and so does Carin, lol. Easy, clean and nice.
Another super easy idea would be using beautiful scrapbook paper and laminate it.
That’s a nice idea! I would never have thought of crocheting bookmarks!
I’ve secretly always wanted a laminator but we still don’t have one.
What a great ideas for new bookmarks.

Judith, laminators over here are very cheap. I find them extremely useful, for all sorts of things. I often laminate Corin’s trading cards, and you can do all sorts of crafts with laminating as well. I LOVE laminators,
.
So Rikki, you don’t use bookmarks AT ALL? Do you strictly dogear?

Well, I started recently to use them again (after some reprimands from others, hehe). But when you have two small kids a bookmark can disappear in the blink of an eye, so dogears are safer in general. But the boys are getting better now, and so am I.
