September book buying ban wrap-up

It’s the last day of September so the book buying ban is more or less over. Actually I was good, however, I did order two books a few days ago. BUT, they have not arrived yet, so I will be easy on myself and not count them. I bought the two books for the Steampunk challenge which will start tomorrow and I wanted to be prepared.

Apart from those I only bought two books as gifts for a friend’s birthday (The Gargoyle and the Baking kit) and read a few books for review that I explicitly excluded from the ban.

All in all I am pretty happy with myself.

How about you? Did you persevere or did you break the ban?

  1. Well done, Rikki! So, are you off to the book shop tomorrow and rake them in? Or are you relaxing with all the lovely books you already own?

I didn’t do the ban, but then, I don’t need to. I only bought one book this month. That I can remember anyway. 🙂

  2. Congratulations Rikki! That’s super awesome! I wouldn’t count the Steampunk Challenge books either. I am going to most likely take it easy for the rest of the year. I will buy the book for The Literary Lollipop’s next read-a-long (if it’s not Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell which I already own), and the Scott Westerfield books since he’s appearing at the TX Book Festival (if I can squeeze in to see him–who knows what the festival is going to be like).

After that, I think I will probably not buy for the rest of the year. Who knows though. i’m definitely not doing another buying ban! hehe

  3. I didn’t know about the ban, but if I had, I would have failed in a most epic manner. Besides the dozen books I had to purchase for school, I’m pretty certain I kept my local Borders in business this month with my purchases! The good news is that I actually plan to read everything I bought…the bad news is so many books, so little time. Seriously, I don’t have a TBR pile, I have a TBR bookshelf! I am more than a little in awe of you for managing to go an entire month…I just don’t know how you did it!!!

  4. Judith, no, not really. Actually I haven’t planned on buying any more books at the moment. With the ones I have and books for reviews I’m ok until at least October.

Carin, no ban for me anymore either. Since my TBR pile is small anyway, ban or no ban makes no difference.

Maria, a TBR shelf? You ain’t seen nothing yet. Go to Bella’s blog (she hosted the ban) and have a look at her TBR ROOM! 🙂

  5. You did so well Rikki! And you bought such fabulous books towards the end of the Ban that I can’t fault you at all 🙂

  6. E.H., actually it is not so hard as you may think. But then, I am not a compulsive book buyer anyway. Especially with m/m books I can get pretty much what I want for review and I excluded those from the ban (cunning, huh?). All the rest can wait for a month…:)

Bella, I know, I just couldn’t resist ordering them.
