Book Beginnings on Friday

Today’s book beginning is from Mark Gatiss’ “The Vesuvius Club”.

Stephen Fry calls this book “the most delicious, depraved, inventive, macabre and hilarious literary debut I can think of…”

The first two sentences remind me of Oscar Wilde, so I expect this to be a good read.

I have always been an appalling judge of character. It is my most beguiling virtue.
