I am a big fan of songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes. You might know the song “Garota da Ipanema” (The girl from Ipanema – this is a great performance by Frank Sinatra and Antonio Jobim from 1967) which is probably their most famous one.
“Insensatez” is one of my favourite songs. This here is an absolutely stunning video and performance of Fernanda Takai, a Brasilian singer.
If you would like to see Antonio Jobim perform the song himself, you can do so here (there are tons of great videos of that song).

That was a really nice song, Rikki. I like! By the way, I haven’t gotten around to telling you that your package finally came! I put the cute nativity thing next to my bed. Parts of it came unglued so I need to get some wood glue and glue the pieces back on but it is awesome. You didn’t have to do that! I love it though. I also love the bags and bookmarks and the yummy treats. You went all out! It was amazing. Thank you so much. I’m so sorry I’ve been so absent from blogging lately. I’m trying to get back on track after my move.
Ph, good, I’m glad that everything seemed to be in there. Even though the treats were actually Christmas treats and an advent calendar (the small M&M like ones). Too bad some of the things came unglued, but I think zou can glue them together easily again.
Move? Where?
I’m also a big Brazilian music fan. I like the old-guard which I learned to like through my parents (Jobim, Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso), but I also like the new generation (Tribalistas, Adriana Calcanhoto).
Do you know Portuguese? Can you follow the lyrics?

I totally like Jobim. I’ve got some CDs with Astrud Gilberto, love her.
I tried to learn Portuguese for a couple of years, the teacher was Brazilian, so I know a tiny bit, but for lyrics I usually look for translations. I like the English version of Insensatez, too, even though the translation is quite off.
