  • “The Mysteries of Udolpho” by Ann Radcliffe.
I got this for the Gothic Reading Challenge. It has the most astonishing cover. I would have preferred a more romantic gothic looking one, but instead what was available was a greenish illustration with a swirl and a person sucked in. It looks like a mystery from the 50s. Interesting!
  • “A moveable feast” by Ernest Hemingway. I am on a roll now.

  1. You’re really into Hemingway, aren’t you? Hope the book is good.

The cover of the other books looks amazing. That is a really attractive cover, to me. But I wouldn’t have expected a gothic story in such a book. Let’s hope it’s a good one!

I bought my first book of the year yesterday. Well, maybe not quite the first, but I can’t remember what else I have bought so far. I bought Wolf Totem by Jiang Rong. I heard a lot about it, seems a good book. I’m vaguely thinking you may have read it…

  2. Judith, I got Udolpho because you said Otranto was only so-so. We’ll see.
No, I have never heard of Wolf Totem before, so you must have thought of someone else.

Stu, it will be interesting to see what you thought about it. It’ll be a while before I get to it.
