Venice in February wrap-up

February is over and I must admit that I miserably failed with the Venice in February Reading Challenge. I only had one book planned to read, “Across the river and into the trees” by Ernest Hemingway, but it seems the time is not the right one for me to read a story about war. I came to about page 25 before I gave it up for now. I will put it back into my TBR pile (far to the bottom, too) and move on.

However, I wanted to do something for the Venice theme, so I compiled a small list of quotes about that lovely city.

Have you been more successful with Venice in February?

In the winter, Venice is like an abandoned theater. The play is finished, but the echoes remain

A realist, in Venice, would become a romantic by mere faithfulness to what he saw before him.

  1. Rikki, I managed to read three out of the four books, and I am halfway through the fourth, which is a different fourth than the one I had planned on reading… Now I only need time to write the review for the third, which I don’t seem to find. I am so busy I cannot believe it… oh, you should try reading “The passion”, which is set in Venice. It is soooo beautiful you will simply love it… maybe for the next Venice challenge 🙂

    • Ally, you recommended it to me before but somehow I must have forgotten to put it on my TBR list. Added it just now and will look for it….

    • You can always post a little later, I am sure nobody will mind the delay. If I get round to Hemingway later in the year I will link to the challenge as well…
