Kicking off Bloggiesta

Bloggiesta

I have been looking forward to a new Bloggiesta for a long time. The last one was in January last year and a lot of stuff needs to be done again. Apart from the mini challenges posted on various blogs I have my personal to-do-list – admittedly it is not very long but might be time consuming nonetheless. Bloggiesta officially starts tomorrow, but already blogs are buzzing with bloggiesta activity.

For general updates of the event, links to participants and challenges you can either visit the two Bloggiesta hosts  It’s all about books and There’s a book and/or follow @Bloggiesta on Twitter and/or look for  the hashtag #bloggiesta to see all the chatting that is going on. There is also a twitter list of participants.

My to-do-list:

  • Either create another header or at least change the font a bit or the colors or something. It needs SOME sort of change.
  • Slightly change my review template
  • Re-organize blog tags
  • Re-organize categories
  • Re-organize my Goodreads shelves (not directly blog related, but GR keeps my reading somewhat organized so it is important)
  • Visit new blogs and maybe make a few new blogging friends
Are you participating in Bloggiesta? What are your plans?

  1. There I was, looking at your blog lay-out, because I want a new one myself. What I liked especially is your header. First thing on your Bloggiesta list… header! Funny! But we all have a different taste so don’t let me stop you.

My list is a bit longer than yours (also involves writing reviews and updating my reviews tab). I’ll be posting tomorrow. First task during Bloggiesta will be to write the post about it. 🙂

I have all day tomorrow (except evening) so I hope to get to a good start. Have fun!

    • I need to work tomorrow, so I will start sometime in the evening. Actually I already started with my tabs, my blog will be a bit of a mess, categories and tabs wise for a few days. Itbtakes forever to change and swap all that stuff around.
My header, yes, I don’t like the little window image anymore, so this will have to go. Also I want it to reflect the crafty part a little. We’ll see. But the overall rather clean look will stay the same.

New blog theme hunting can be exciting but frustrating at the same time. There is so much to choose from and when you have certain requirements it’s even worse. You find something you like but then it won’t do what you want it to. Good luck! Hopefully you will find something that is perfect for you.

  2. Yay! You have the Sweet Captcha like I do! I love it! It’s so cute!

I’m so glad you decided to join us again for Bloggiesta! It’s going to be a great weekend! Good luck with your header, I’m trying to revamp my whole site and I’m dreading it. Ugh. 😉

    • Revampinmg the whole site is rather daunting. I changed my theme last year and it took me weeks to even find one I liked and that worked for me. Good luck!

  3. This is my first yr participating and I wish I’d been doing this sooner. Bloggiesta came at the right time for me though because I have quite a big list to do! Having a toddler makes blogging a big harder sometimes. So, being organized is a must. I’ve also got some GoodReads stuff on my list. I’m wanting to start keeping my current TBR list there. So I don’t forget any books and I know how many I’ve got on my list. I don’t want any falling through the cracks!

    Good luck on your list!

    • Goodreads is great for organizing your reading a bit. I don’t know what I would do without it. I can relate to the toddler situation. It’s hard to focus when they are around and when they are in bed you are knackered yourself. 🙂

    • Mary, it’s the end of Day 2 and I’m a very tired participant 😉 Having the 3yo and 4mo to take care of doesn’t help. I can totally empathize!

  4. Hi there, Rikki, this is our first time to join Bloggiesta, and so far, it does look like a very active and affirming community. I’ve seen a few of the goals set by other bloggers, and they all seem fairly realistic. The mini-challenges also look great, so I’m anticipating that it’s going to be a fun weekend. Cleaning my Goodreads is also part of my to-do list, but boy am I dreading that one. 🙂

    • I am also procrastinating as far as GR is concerned. Ah, well, tomorrow is another day.
Yes, Bloggiesta is a great opportunity to connect with others.

    • You can also add more itmes to your list. But Goodreads is a big task. I want to change around all my shelves, so with 800+ books this won’t be much fun!

    • I did quite a few things that were not on my list. Somehow, no matter how short the list is you start with, it just adds up and up.

    • Thanks, Kathleen, I also don’t like it when a header takes up the whole screen and you have to scroll to get to the first post. Going to check your blog out now.

    • Yes, that is the new header, :). Visiting new blogs is always fun. This Bloggiesta turns out to be another great event.

  5. I love how you have all of your buttons for connecting with you located in the same spot on your blog. I tried, and tried, but I could not do it.

    Buona fortuna!

I’m Bloggista-ing all weekend! I love to have old and new blogging friends stop by and say hello!

I agree, GR is important. It has totally changed my way of organizing my reading. Actually only since I started using it I organize my reading at all. Not sure whether this is a good or bad thing, but I like it.

  7. I also worked on my goodreads. I use it to have a notion of how many books I need to read, which one read first and when to erase a book I’m not interested anymore. It’s hard work!

My plans for bloggiesta, besides goodreads, were updating my pages, writing reviews, scheduling posts. I also did a few challenges, like the Pinterest challenge. 🙂

    Good luck!
