In my mailbox

This week was extremely slow as far as books are concerned – and that is a good thing. I really don’t know when to read all the books that I received in the last few weeks. Maybe a book acquiring ban is in order?!

I swapped

  • Nothing

I bought

  •   Nothing

From the library

That’s it! What was in YOUR mailbox recently?

  1. What’s that about a BOOK ACQUIRING BAN? I like the sound of that, especially as it’s lonely in the deep pit of my self-imposed book buying ban. Alright, actually it’s not all too bad. I’ve got tons to read and won’t be running out of books for another five years even if I stop buying altogether AND neither win books or receive any for review. Yes, it’s that bad! Why’d you think I went on that ban in the first place?

    • Isn’t your ban over soon?
I checked my GR to-read list and it says 140 books which is about 16% of my read books. Is that ridiculous or what? I really need to get my book buying/swapping thing reined in.

  2. Hi. Many thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! 🙂 I also love Susan Vreeland and anything really that incorporates art and literature. I hope you and Caroline enjoy the ward book–it’s one that is fun to read along with someone else. And it is very similar to the Vreeland, but she writes about seven different works of art–all reading women. Just out of curiosity-what do you swap? I’ve just recently gotten into mail art and postcrossing, so I swap postcards. Once you start expecting something good in the mailbox it’s hard to face an empty one after a long day at work!

    • Hi Danielle, thanks for stopping by. I am very much looking forward to reading the book with Caroline.
Re swapping: We did a few swaps in the past with other book bloggers, we swapped goodies from our home countries and book related things and at one point we had a grocery bag swap which was fun.
I have heard of those postcard swaps before and they sound like a really nice way to get to know other people. How is the one organized that you are paricipating in?

  3. I didn’t get any book last week, but I am looking forward to the one about Paris 🙂
Also, I will stop buying books between October and December, so now I am in the middle of deciding what I should buy for the summer. I do have a long list in mind 🙂 If you haven’t been on a book buying ban, my advice is to start with a month of two and see how it goes, and I always choose a period of time in which I know that my favorite writers won’t release anything…

    • I have done a ban before but I don’t remember how long that lasted. I really need to cut down on the number of books I get, it’s just ridiculous how many unread books I have. Maybe I will go on one in a couple of months. I will think about it.
