Here are my finds for the last couple of weeks…
- Why not try a book? from The Doghouse Diaries
- I didn’t think I’d EVER post something even remotely wedding related on this blog as I am really not into wedding stuff at all, but look at this gorgeous Steampunk wedding. Everything is perfect there.
- Judith is hosting the fourth Literary Giveaway Blog Hop this weekend. There is still time to sign up for it here.
- Have a look at some objects made from repurposed books
There were 46 entrants in the Dreaming of books giveaway where I gave away a used copy of “Gods behaving badly” by Marie Phillips.

Random.org drew number 3
and that is
Kristilyn from Reading in Winter
Congrats, Kristilyn! I will get in touch with you by email. Happy Reading!

Welcome to the Dreaming of Books Giveaway Hop!
The Dreaming of Books Giveaway Hop is hosted by I am a reader, not a writer and Reviews by Martha’s Bookshelf.
I hope you are enjoying your stay at my blog and have a look around. If you would like to know about future giveaways and new posts in general please consider subscribing to my RSS feed or follow me on twitter. You can also add me on Google+.
What am I giving away?
I am giving away a used copy of “Gods behaving badly” by Marie Phillips. I have talked about the book before and also posted its book beginning. Above is a picture of the actual book you will be getting. It is in good condition, but it IS a used book, so please don’t expect it to be pristine!
Oh, and, by the way, this is the “Witty, fast-moving entertainment…A romp of a novel” that I asked for under No. 1 in my Quizzical Monday post here.
Enter the giveaway
To enter all you need to do is leave a comment. Please, don’t forget your name and email address. Since “Gods behaving badly” features the Greek Gods tell me about your favourite mythological tale, if you have one (not necessarily Greek). The giveaway is international.

OK, I don’t think anybody is going to come up with more ideas, so I decided the quiz is closed now,
.
Drum roll for……Ally! You are great! Both guesses were right. I didn’t think anybody would get Isle of Dogs! Awesome.
I will send you a small bookish prize (it is a surprise, but don’t expect anything BIG) if you send me your address by email. Thanks for playing….this was fun.
Obviously I won’t tell you the other titles. You will have to come back for the various giveaways to find out what the books were…:).
I decided to give away a book each month in order to decrease the number of books on our shelves. I am a reader, not a writer hosts a lot of giveaway hops and they are always fun with lots of participants and they create a lot of traffic (and don’t we all love traffic?). So I decided to go with her hops and will participate in one of them each month.
I have already planned my giveaway books for the first half of the year. I’m not saying what I will be giving away, of course, but to tease you a bit I will tell you some of the blurb…
1.
Witty, fast-moving entertainment…A romp of a novel.
2.
One of the season’s twistiest, tautest, most tantalizing tales of sleuthery!
3.
Now, with this #1 New York Times bestselling novel, she outdoes herself, with a wry tale of life and turmoil behind the blue wall.
4.
The prolific (insert name of writer here) combines suspense and romance with the master’s touch.
5.
Ambitious and accomplished…The characterisation is rich, the dialogue both original and convincing.
6.
(Insert writer’s name here) seamlessly weaves…a delightful and lively tale…period details bring immediacy to a neatly choreographed dance through Bath society.
Now, are you curious? Have you recognized a book from its praise? If you have, leave a comment! I will draw the winner of a small bookish prize.
If you are possessed by ambition now and would like a few hints, click on the “show” button below. Then post your answers in the comments!
Don’t forget to come back regularly or – even better - subscribe to my RSS feed to find out when I am giving away my books!

I know I am a bit later than everybody else, but real life circumstances prevented me from drawing the winner earlier.
This time I wrote all the names on a piece of paper and put them into a big bowl. Then one of my boys drew the lucky winner of “I wish someone were waiting for me somewhere” by Anna Gavalda.
It is
Dinda_SI
from Life is (not) beautiful with (out) books
Congrats, Dinda_SI. I will send you an email and get the book sent to you via TBD as soon as possible.

Welcome to the Literary Giveaway Blog Hop!

Judith from Leeswammes’ Blog has organized the third Literary Giveaway Blog Hop. It will run until October 19, and again there are awesome books waiting for a new owner. Due to real life situations (more about it here) I will probably be able to draw the winner next week only. However, only entries made by Oct. 19 will be considered.
What am I giving away?
My giveaway today is a book I really, really liked. It is a copy of “I wish someone were waiting for me somewhere” by Anna Gavalda. You can read my thoughts about it here.
If you like short stories, French flair and stories about men and women this should be just the right book for you.
Edit: Seems my plan to use Rafflecopter doesn’t work out as the widget doesn’t seem to work properly. So, we’ll change the plan slightly. All you need to do is comment below this post and tell me why you would like to get this book. Please don’t forget your email address! That’s it.
Oh, and yes, the giveaway is international.
I hope you are enjoying your stay at my blog and that you have a look around. If you would like to know about future giveaways and new posts in general please consider subscribing to my RSS feed or follow me on twitter. You can also add me on Google+.

Wow, I didn’t expect so many people participating. For some reason I thought “The Lorax” would only draw a small number of people, but I am glad I was mistaken.
Random.org drew number
and that is
Lisa from Book Him Danno!
Congrats, Lisa, you won a copy of The Lorax! I will get in touch with you by email. Happy Reading!

My finds for this week…
- The last words of 25 famous dead writers at Buzzfeed
- A few hilarious customer reviews on amazon at Publishers Weekly. There are more here and here. I particularly want to draw your attention to the one by Nikolai Krestinsky about “English Grammar for Dummies” . I was laughing tears.
- Read and vote for your favourite banned book on DailyLit
- Participate in the Banned Books week hop and maybe win a banned book!
- Read Wallace’s series of posts about publishers called publishers 101 at her blog Unputdownables.

Welcome to the Banned Books Week Hop!
Banned Books Week is a US event. I have to admit that the practice of banning or challenging books is unknown to me, at least in recent times. Except for one mother in 12th or 13th grade who opposed to us reading “Les liaisons dangereuses” by Choderlos de Laclos in French class – a fact that made me go and read the book right away, of course – I have never heard of a book being challenged or banned from schools, libraries or shops. It seems, in the US it is not so uncommon. So I am all too willing to support Banned Books Week and this hop with a giveaway. You can find out more about Banned Books Week at the official Banned Books Week website.
The Banned Books Week Hop is organized by I am a reader, not a writer and I read banned books. Make sure you check out their blogs!
What am I giving away?
No, it’s neither a classic, nor a YA novel, it’s a children’s book (a classic in its own right). A book that I love, that I read to my kids frequently, a book everybody should know. It is called “The Lorax”.
As unbelievable as it sounds, “The Lorax” was banned in 1989 by the Laytonville, Calif. Unified School District because it "criminalizes the foresting industry". No, it doesn’t. If anything, it criminalizes entrepreneurs who exploit nature without making sure to replenish by re-planting.
